What’s a metaphor الاستعارة?

In our daily lives we use similie and metaphor to compare two unlike things, the difference between similes and metaphors comes down to a word, so in this lesson we will see what is a metaphor and what is a simile.

What’s a similie التشبيه?

A similie is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid (e.g. as brave as a lion ).

Example of metaphor:

  • It’s raining cats and dogs.
  • Her eyes were fireflies.
  • He is a night owl.
  • Their home was a prison.
